INALIENABLE RIGHTS

Happy New Year to all!

Since this an election year many questions arise with its coming. As we welcome in the new year this current election campaign brings with it the extended media coverage, thanks to the latest advancements in social media which most of us are now used to as a product of our individual need to accept the world’s rapid advancements in order to survive within the world. These events bring with them some differing and some old familiar reasons to hope for a prosperous and healthy impending year. Most of us are familiar by now, if not tired of, the constant media coverage of the current presidential debates, as a precursor to the elections. We watch closely, only at greater lengths than previously capable, as our candidates state their cases for which important issues our country needs to deal, as well as their ideas of which methods will turn these negative issues into positive ones for us, as individuals, who must live together as a whole. While each individual is on his own path to happiness questions arise which may contradict our G-d-given inalienable rights, since it has never been certain, if, even The Supreme Creator may not have been able to provide for the ability of so many differing societies of people to survive together after He provided the basic essentials to sustain life on this amazingly efficient and beautiful Universe.

Some of the issues our world faces today concern, as they typically might, economic policies-and their fairness to all, or at least most. How do we appropriate the great abundance of wealth in a way that is acceptable to everyone. A new question to an ancient matter that has been brought to the limelight, in this current campaign, more than before is simply, who has the right to be here- the answer for which our forefathers apparently provided in The Constitution and is to some degree, part of what makes this country so unique-and arguably provides its greatest distinctness. Along with this important issue rise further common, age-old questions such as; Who gets to determine this; as well as what gives that individual this and other rights? Are we still in search of the wisest of all beings to govern? From where does he or she derive such wisdom? Can financial wealth, now buy someone a right to govern us? How do we account and compromise for the greed that has come from a capitalist system for which we had to fight just to prove its superiority over other systems of economy. Were Holy provisions ever made for the abundance which would come from a system carried to such extremes in order to “win” the past Cold War with other countries of the world.Could G-d in Heaven have foreseen such events and, if so, how could even He have installed provisions to have His Great planet possibly facing a possible apocalypse, which, even some great sages have predicted. With all of this abundance we are still the only country without the right to affordable health care for everyone. Some say this may account, at least partly, for the rise of alternative forms of health treatment. It is unclear if this right to health was given us by our Supreme Creator, since He gave our bodies the ability to adjust and adapt to stressors through its regulatory ability (In a way, this is what is meant by holistic health). This is why meditation is probably among the most healthy activity of which people can partake, since when one is in a completely relaxed state of mind, the immune system is actually boosted. The ancient Hindus and Buddhists discovered this as part of their early system of health before medical technology was discovered. This was long before such stress causing ways of life had begun-coincidence? If history does repeat itself, maybe the time has come to revert to holistic healing as our main form of individual health.
